Tooth Extractions

We may suggest tooth extraction because your tooth is poorly positioned in your mouth, badly decayed, abscessed, you have developed serious gum disease, or to prepare for orthodontic treatment.

Will having a tooth extraction be painful?

With the up-to-date dental techniques we employ at Downtown Dental of Hamilton, tooth extraction is no longer a painful experience.

Our highly skilled team will begin by placing a local anaesthetic to the area surrounding your tooth so that you will not feel pain while your tooth is extracted.

Using precise instruments, we will carefully remove the tooth. If anything becomes uncomfortable for you during the procedure, our caring team will be listening and ready to help make you comfortable.

What will I need to do after my tooth extraction?

During your extraction appointment, our team will explain how you will care for your mouth after the extraction. By following some simple steps, you can prevent post-extraction problems.

What can I eat following the tooth extraction?

After your procedure, you should eat only soft foods for a couple of days. Some foods we often recommend post-extraction include ice cream, pudding, soups, applesauce, and smoothies. As you heal, you can add solid foods back into your diet.

If you have any questions about how your mouth is healing following a tooth extraction, or any other dental concerns, please contact our caring and helpful team at Downtown Dental of Hamilton.
