Soft Tissue Management
A soft tissue management plan is a customized plan designed by your dental team to help you maintain healthy gums for a lifetime.
Do I need a soft tissue management plan?
During your regular check-up, our dental team at Downtown Dental of Hamilton will examine your gums for areas that are infected or inflamed (or "periodontal pockets").
The appearance of periodontal pockets is a sign of gum disease. If you have periodontal pockets, we may recommend a soft tissue management plan in order to prevent progression of gum disease.
What does a soft tissue management plan include?
If you need a soft tissue management plan, our experienced dental team will develop an effective program that is personalized to your individual needs. Some of the effective treatments we often recommend include regular hygiene appointments, root planning and scaling, specialized home care routines, antibiotics, and, in rare cases, surgical procedures.
What results can I expect from my soft tissue management plan?
he major goal of a soft tissue management plan is to control periodontal disease (gum disease). The soft tissue management plan aims to eliminate inflammation and infection in the gums and on root surfaces. The desired result is healthy gums that are not tender or inflamed, do not bleed, have reduced pocket depths, and have well controlled periodontal disease.
If you have any questions about soft tissue management or any other dental procedure, please contact our team at Downtown Dental of Hamilton.
